PRESS RELEASE - April 16th, 2008
Homecoming 2008 Cancelled
Dear Friends of Homecoming,
It is with genuine regret that we inform that due to circumstances beyond our control, we will be unable to bring back Lindsay Homecoming for Summer, 2008.
Significant factors resulted in the cancellation of Homecoming 2006. With persistence and considerable effort, our committee was able to produce the very successful Homecoming 2007. We are proud of our accomplishments and were very grateful for the overwhelming community participation, support and positive feedback that we received. Regrettably, we again find ourselves facing a variety of circumstances that make it impossible for us to provide an event of similar quality.
It’s been said that many hands make light work. We believe that if all parts of a community work together, that all good things are possible.
To the many volunteers, vendors, retailers, sponsors and others who have helped us in our endeavours, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
To those who have not yet, there has never been a better time to come forward to indicate your support and get involved.
If you believe in community special events, if you would like to see Lindsay Homecoming become an annual event as a downtown community street festival, including the wonderful carnival in Victoria Park, please contact us as well as the City of Kawartha Lakes to share your views.
We would also very much like to hear from other organizers, past, present and those currently developing an event, to share your experiences with us.
Please be assured that we are completely committed to working through these current challenges, and that as of today, our firm focus is on the return of Homecoming for 2009.
This will be our only public comment on this unfortunate matter. Please have a wonderful summer.
Yours sincerely,
The Lindsay Homecoming Committee
